The Greater Kansas City area Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast was founded in 1961. The mission is, “To Honor God, encourage spiritual awakening and moral growth in every citizen throughout the Greater Kansas City Area.” The major organizer was Claire Schroeder, a Kansas City banker and officer. Mayor H. Roe Bartle was also a large inspiration and contributor to the event. The 16-member Committee for the Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast organizes the event, which is still held annually. Excess funds from the Breakfast are donated to various 501c3 non-profit groups in the Kansas City area.[1] A case study on the Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast has been provided by CRES.
