WomanSource was founded by ex-nun, Carol Meyer, with the support of eleven other women, in October of 1986. The organization was founded out of “a need for more support in the community for the empowerment of women.”[1] WomanSource was a drop-in center; known addresses are 4816 Charlotte Street and 3466 E 62nd. The center offered various retreats, including “Women Exploring the Divine Within” and “Discovering the Goddess Within You.” Workshops included “Creation Spirituality” and “Connecting with the Sacred,” hosted by Patty Malsen, and “Message Workshop,” lead by Judith Reed and Sheila Nelson. The group also distributed a newsletter, discussing the organization’s history, purpose, goals, and activities. Drop-in events at the center featured potlucks and rituals, writing and journaling, brown bag lunches and meditations. Retreats often featured a focus on feminine images, promoting spiritual growth, rest, and renewal.[2]**
